STEP UK CORE Course - April 2019
STEP - SECO'S TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME
WHAT IS STEP?
STEP, as the acronym suggests, is focused on progression as well as Technical Education. The programme features three different and distinct levels - each level aimed at specific target audiences found within any and every manufacturing company - large or small.
The objective of all STEP programmes is to provide customers with a good understanding of the machining process commensurate with their job function and career ambitions. By using proven and robust theories and models, STEP customers acquire relevant knowledge and skills that can be used to influence and improve company-specific machining processes.
All courses are delivered by highly skilled STEP trainers who have proven applications engineering experience and a track record in training. Recognising that many course attendees may not be familiar with modern training techniques or may not feel confident being back in the classroom, all STEP courses are delivered in a supportive, informal and friendly environment. Class sizes are small to ensure that training is effective, and that all attendees can participate, contribute and learn.
At the end of each course, attendees earn a STEP certificate of completion.
THE THREE LEVELS OF STEP TRAINING
STEP Core - Aimed at machine tool operations, setters, machine shop supervisors, programmers.
STEP Advanced - Aimed at managerial and technical staff with responsibilities for production, planning, design, quality etc., and for those who have completed STEP Core.
Next STEP Masterclass - Aimed at managers and directors, including managing directors, CEOs and company owners.
THE STEP CORE COURSE - CPD Accredited
The STEP Core course is a one day training event with a series of practical education and training modules that cover the basics of the metal cutting processes and the role and use of tooling. Armed with this 'foundational' knowledge, course attendees, when back at their workplaces, can make basic tooling choices, identify and determine the cutting conditions for different jobs and applications and identify, intervene and rectify issues and problems as, and even before, they arise.
The STEP Core Course is CPD accredited. This is a national certification that means the course has reached the required Continuing Professional Development standards and benchmarks, and all material has been scrutinised to ensure integrity and quality. For more information about the accreditation, visit the CPD website: www.cpduk.co.uk
