Seco has been implementing a decentralized community led waste management program at Koregaon Bhima village which is home to around 350 households and 1500 people. The project started in 2016 by initiating a structured waste collection process. The solid waste produced here is collected, segregated and then processed. Wet waste is sent for composting while dry waste is recycled. Seco also took the lead in creating a modern composting plant. This plant has created direct job and income opportunities in the local community. More than 50 Volunteers from Seco India are also actively engaged in supporting this initiative.
