Masterclass Machining Economics
Machining economics is a collection of models and scenarios, including but also beyond the pure technological ones describing a trouble-free machining process, to describe and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the machining process.Machining economics is a collection of models and scenarios, that will help you to understand and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of your machining processes.
Machining economics is about optimising the global outcome of a machining process. On a micro-technological level, machining economics is about maximised tool life, maximised number of workpieces produced per cutting edge, respected pre-fixed cycle times, minimised tooling cost, maximised tool performance, minimised tool manipulation times and machining costs. The next level is the macro-economic dimension. On this level the targets are highest achievable productivity, lowest possible process costs or maximised profitability, highest achievable process reliability and predictability, most efficient usage of resources and energy, lowest possible ecological footprint, and best and most consistent workpiece quality.
The definition of global machining economics or production economics is 'Assuring maximum reliability and predictability of the machining process (the technological dimension) while maintaining highest possible productivity and lowest possible production costs (the economic dimension)'.
This definition gives us the scenario to achieve the overall goal of a machining process (or every manufacturing process), namely Producing correctly finished workpieces with minimum effort and waste, in the shortest possible production time and at the lowest possible costs.
Using the same machining economics and optimisation learnings from the masterclass, our customers and partners could reduce their wastage and lead time while improving the team’s skill level and motivation.
During this masterclass, we will describe and discuss the five global steps to achieve pragmatically and practically the best possible global machining economics.
This Masterclass focuses on company owners or managing directors, operations managers, heads of production, plant managers, manufacturing managers, engineering managers, senior engineers, senior machining experts, workshop team leaders etc. who want to understand, influence, control, and work with all the elements and key indicators that define and control a cost and time efficient, and sustainable machining production and operation that delivers well on customer expectations.
To fully appreciate the multitude of applied physical models and concepts used to define machining processes and production organisation, we advise you to have a pre-existing knowledge of production technology or production engineering & organisation.
