Rocket wing part

Operation: High feed side milling and slotting

Result: Tool life increase 125%, good surface finish

Cutting data: vc = 100 m/min, fz = 0.16 mm/t, ap = 0.1 mm

Wing spar
Material:
7010 Aluminium alloy
Operation: Rough milling, pocketing
Criterion: Metal removal rate, productivity
Result: 25% productivity increase
Tool: R220.97-0050-V22.3A
Cutting data: vc = 860 m/min, fz = 0.3 mm/t, ap = 10 mm

Flap track
Material:
Ti6Al4V
Operation: Helical side milling, roughing
Criterion: Metal removal rate
Result: 2.5 times faster than previous method
Tool: R217.69-2532.3S-044-12.3A, F40M
Cutting data: vc = 60m/min, fz = 0.12mm/t, ap = 40mm, ae = 32mm

Wing rib
Material:
7010 Aluminium alloy
Operation: Rough milling with solid carbide endmill
Criterion: Surface finish, metal removal rate
Result: 35% preductivity increase
Tool: Jabro JH421 endmill diameter 12mm
Cutting data: vc = 1100 m/min, fz = 0.18 mm/t, ap = 12 mm
